New Regulations, Rising Fuel Costs and What They Mean for Truckload Shippers: An Inland26 Webcast
The tail end of 2025 provided a sneak preview for what was a hopeful first quarter for truckload carriers, and a potential concern for truckload shippers. Capacity contracted due to regulatory crackdowns and rising fuel costs, which led to a firming of spot rates. Now the attention turns to whether contract rates will be impacted, or rather the extent to which they will. CH Robinson, North America's biggest freight broker, in late March raised its guidance for rate increases from 10% to 12%. Truckload rate providers are warning shippers to brace themselves for rate increases. But it’s still unclear just how steep those increases will be, and the second quarter will likely be a good guide in answering that critical question. This one-hour webcast, a primer of sorts to the Inland Distribution Conference in September, will examine the fundamentals of a market that has very much turned, with input from a panel of truckload experts.

The Fight Against Cargo Theft: An Inland26 Webcast
A once growing threat has now turned into an almost ever-present risk to trucking-based North American supply chains. The range of illegal schemes that underpin cargo theft and fraud activity seems limitless, and yet the market is fully attuned to the threat in way it has never been before. Additionally, intense scrutiny from regulators and legislators, and solutions developed by 3PLs and software companies, are giving shippers hope that the industry may be able to get its arms around this thorny and multidimensional issue.
In this hourlong webcast, a glimpse at what the Journal of Commerce team will deliver at September’s Inland Distribution Conference in Chicago, experts identifying and tackling cargo theft and fraud — from across the modal landscape — will describe the current state of play, as well as what the future may hold for addressing the most problematic and frequent acts. Shippers will take away actionable recommendations, while brokers will learn about the role they can play in helping to mitigate the ongoing threat.

The Asia-Europe Container Shipping Outlook: A TPM27 Webcast
Fears are increasing that rising inflation across Europe driven by the war in Iran, and worsening economic indicators for the region, will dampen consumer demand, impacting containerized imports through the summer-fall peak season and beyond. The International Monetary Fund recently slashed the eurozone GDP growth forecast for 2026 from 1.4% to 1.1% as soaring energy prices erode economic prospects. The high price of fuel is heavily impacting ocean carriers whose response will have a significant impact on cargo owners this year. Container lines are warning of looming bunker shortages in some refueling ports and that schedules and port calls may need to change with little notice as carriers adjust networks and cancel sailings. Emergency fuel surcharges also are being revised upwards frequently, sometimes every two weeks, piling additional financial pressure on European importers. The weakening demand, however, is coming as the container shipping orderbook passes 35% of the in-service fleet. Although global demand for 2026 was forecast to be 3% before the war started with 4% capacity growth, more than 60% of the orderbook is for ships greater than 15,000 TEUs in capacity, and those vessels can only be deployed on the Asia-Europe trade lane. This webcast, led by Journal of Commerce Europe Editor Greg Knowler, will dissect the Asia-Europe ocean trade and identify the array of pain points that shippers will need to consider as they carefully navigate through the second half of 2026.
