Schneider National is looking to hire 300 truck drivers in Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico for its dedicated and bulk divisions to serve the region’s booming oil business.
Schneider, one the North America’s largest truckload carriers, said it’s specifically looking to add drivers in Alice, Laredo, Victoria, Midland and San Antonio, Texas; the regions of Elk City and El Reno in Oklahoma; and in the Hobbs, N.M. area.
The hiring comes as employment across the freight transportation has been growing heading into the summer months.
Trucking employment rose 0.3 percent in June to 1.3 million workers on a seasonally adjusted basis, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, adding some 4,400 workers. Freight railroad employment grew 0.5 percent in May, meantime, over April, according to Surface Transportation Board figures.
Schneider said it’s also hiring company drivers and leasing owner-operators for its regional, over-the-road and intermodal fleets.
