Regional LTL carriers A. Duie Pyle and Dayton Freight Lines entered a strategic partnership that will speed freight between the Northeast and Midwest.

Dayton Freight Lines will offer LTL service between Pyle''s service area in the Northeast and the Midwest states of Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan and Wisconsin. Transit times between most major markets in the Northeast and the Midwest will be two days.

Both companies are nonunion, family-owned and-operated enterprises. West Chester, Pa.-based Pyle dates to 1924. It offers warehousing, pool distribution and logistics services in addition to LTL and truckload carriage. Dayton Freight Lines, headquartered in Dayton, Ohio, was founded in 1980 and has 30 service centers in 10 Midwestern states.

Dayton and Pyle both have a Southern partner: Southeastern Freight Lines, a Columbia, S.C.-based regional carrier. Together, the three companies cover territory that includes about 60 percent of the U.S. population, they said.
