The Fight Against Cargo Theft: An Inland26 Webcast
A once growing threat has now turned into an almost ever-present risk to trucking-based North American supply chains. The range of illegal schemes that underpin cargo theft and fraud activity seems limitless, and yet the market is fully attuned to the threat in way it has never been before. Additionally, intense scrutiny from regulators and legislators, and solutions developed by 3PLs and software companies, are giving shippers hope that the industry may be able to get its arms around this thorny and multidimensional issue.
In this hourlong webcast, a glimpse at what the Journal of Commerce team will deliver at September’s Inland Distribution Conference in Chicago, experts identifying and tackling cargo theft and fraud — from across the modal landscape — will describe the current state of play, as well as what the future may hold for addressing the most problematic and frequent acts. Shippers will take away actionable recommendations, while brokers will learn about the role they can play in helping to mitigate the ongoing threat.

Understanding The New Freight Cycle: What’s Different This Time?
Partner:

The transportation industry is entering a period of meaningful transformation. Macro indicators and real-world observations from shippers and carriers are revealing the ways in which the freight market is being reshaped — driven by regulatory enforcement, capacity constraints and changes in carrier behavior, the current upcycle will be structurally different from prior cycles. How did we get here? What does this mean for shippers now and in the future?
This webcast will explore why the industry is at an inflection point, examine the changes to how capacity does or does not enter the market, uncover trends around demand and capacity, and provide additional understanding into its impact on freight planning and strategy in the coming months.

Balancing AI Automation with Human Intuition in Global Shipping and Logistics
Partner:

In 2026, the goal of digital transformation in logistics has shifted from replacing human operators to empowering them. This webinar explores the critical synergy between AI’s computational speed and the nuanced intuition of logistics professionals. We will examine how Agentic AI and predictive modeling handle 90% of routine orchestration, such as order management, documentation, and operational support, while the human interface remains the "final mile" for solving complex exceptions and high-stakes strategic disruptions.
Attendees will learn how a balanced AI-human framework doesn't just drive operational efficiency, but builds a more resilient, responsive, and "empathy-led" logistics ecosystem that can withstand the volatility of global trade and giving companies much needed competitive advantage.

Canada Trade and Shipping Outlook: How Policy and Ports Are Shaping the Freight Future
Partner(s):

Canada is making moves in an increasingly uncertain world. Port development is in the spotlight thanks to the pivot toward trade diversification led by Prime Minister Mark Carney. But a slowing global economy, driven by rising fuel prices, could derail steady import volume growth and a burgeoning export rebound. And a planned merger to create a US transcontinental railroad could alter the North American competitive rail landscape. What is more certain is that a handful of port labor contracts will expire over the coming 12 months, raising the risk of port actions after bumpy and sometimes disruptive past negotiation cycles.
This webcast, led by Journal of Commerce Executive Editor Mark Szakonyi, will provide attendees with a state of the market of freight shipping in Canda, analysis of major port developments, and an update on port labor negotiations ahead of contract expirations at several gateways.

Domestic Intermodal’s Looming Stress Test: An Inland26 Webcast
Partner

Check back for description/speakers
Buckle up, because domestic intermodal is entering one of its most important windows in years. Truckload rates increased in the first quarter, the result of a supply-side recovery more than a surge in demand. As that happened, shippers started shifting incremental volume back to intermodal to capture cost savings. And it showed in March, the third-highest monthly domestic container volume on record, and the strongest performance for any month outside the traditional peak season. Intermodal rates, however, don’t move in lockstep with truckload. There is usually a lag before intermodal rates catch up. That creates a window where savings are at their peak, but it will not stay open for long.
This hourlong webinar, led by Journal of Commerce senior editor Ari Ashe, will break down what changed in the first half, where intermodal is gaining share, and how to think about positioning ahead of a peak season that could look very different from the past two years.

The Asia-Europe Container Shipping Outlook: A TPM27 Webcast
Fear is growing that rising inflation across Europe driven by the Middle East war, and worsening economic indicators for the region, will dampen demand, impacting containerized imports through the peak season and beyond. The International Monetary Fund recently slashed the eurozone GDP growth forecast for 2026 from 1.4% to 1.1% as soaring energy prices erode economic prospects. The high price of fuel is heavily impacting ocean carriers that are passing on the costs to customers through rising surcharges and bunker formulas that are being revised regularly. Bunker prices have declined since mid-March highs but remain more than 50% above late-February levels before the Middle East war began. There are hopes that an end to the US-Iran war will also lead to a resumption of safe passage through the Red Sea, cutting two weeks off Asia-Europe transits and generating significant fuel savings for carriers. Although the Red Sea resumption will release capacity into an oversupplied market — the orderbook is closing in on 40% of the in-service fleet — it also will allow carriers to slow ship speeds, mitigating the rate-destroying impact of the capacity injection while lowering fuel costs in a high-priced bunker market.
This hourlong webcast, led by Journal of Commerce Senior Europe Editor Greg Knowler, will dissect the Asia-Europe ocean trade and identify the challenges shippers will need to navigate through the second half of the year.

New Regulations, Rising Fuel Costs and What They Mean for Truckload Shippers: An Inland26 Webcast
The tail end of 2025 provided a sneak preview for what was a hopeful first quarter for truckload carriers, and a potential concern for truckload shippers. Capacity contracted due to regulatory crackdowns and rising fuel costs, which led to a firming of spot rates. Now the attention turns to whether contract rates will be impacted, or rather the extent to which they will. CH Robinson, North America's biggest freight broker, in late March raised its guidance for rate increases from 10% to 12%. Truckload rate providers are warning shippers to brace themselves for rate increases. But it’s still unclear just how steep those increases will be, and the second quarter will likely be a good guide in answering that critical question. This one-hour webcast, a primer of sorts to the Inland Distribution Conference in September, will examine the fundamentals of a market that has very much turned, with input from a panel of truckload experts.
