Beardsworth Heads DHS Transport

The Department of Homeland Security agency that oversees the Transportation Security Administration and Bureau of Customs and Border Protection has a new leader.

Randy Beardsworth, a former Coast Guard officer and defense specialist, is the new acting DHS undersecretary for border and transportation security.

Beardsworth replaces Asa Hutchinson, who left in March.

In 2002, Beardsworth worked to integrate TSA, CBP and other agencies under the DHS umbrella. He has worked in DHS's border and transportation security directorate since the department's founding.

Before assuming control of the division, Beardsworth was the director of operations.
