Toll Intermodal Opens Facility in Kewdale, Australia

Toll Intermodal has opened an interstate freight forwarding facility in Kewdale, an intermodal hub in Perth in Western Australia.

The 55,000 square meter (about 592,015 square foot) site represents an investment of A$47 million (about US$49 million), said Paul Ebsworth, Toll Domestic Forwarding’s divisional director, during his speech at the opening ceremony on March 20.

Toll worked with Asciano’s rail division, rail operator Pacific National Rail, located next to the Toll site, to implement the Cargo Link concept, directly transferring freight between sites without using the road, reducing container-handling time.

“Toll recognizes the growing appetite for intermodal movement of freight in Australia, and is investing to take full advantage,” Ebsworth added.
