Intermodal marketing company Hub Group has tapped long-time logistics executive Steve Rand as executive vice president of sales to suceed Jim Gaw, who has been with the company for 28 years.
Rand previously worked in C-level roles at Amports, where he was president and CEO for seven years, and CSX Transportation, where for 13 years he was vice president of sales and marketing. Rand will begin his new role June 30.
Gaw played an integral role in the growth of Hub throughout the years, serving variously as president of Hub North Central and general manager of Hub City Terminals before his current position.
The company managed to post a 36.6 percent year-over-year jump in net income for the fourth quarter to $22.4 million. Lower fuel surcharge revenue pulled total revenue down 3 percent to $890 million as the company’s traffic grew everywhere but the U.S. East Coast.
The company had a rough 2014 and 2015 as the West Coast labor dispute and poor intermodal rail performance cost it business. Although 2016 will be no less daunting, the company hopes to continue growing via one large acquisition per year.
Hub’s 2015 was also marked by dramatic leadership changes that saw Mark Yeager step down from Hub Group’s board just two months after resigning from his post as COO.
