Volume at Wilson Sons’ Terminals Rises 7.7 Percent

Wilson Sons reported container volume through the Tecon Rio Grande and Tecon Salvador terminals in Brazil in the fourth quarter of 2012, ending Dec. 31, was about 226,600 20-foot-equivalent units, rising 7.7 percent year-over-year from about 210,400 TEUs in the fourth quarter of 2011. Volume was down from the third quarter of 2012, however, when the terminals handled 255,300 TEUs.

Tecon Rio Grande handled about 155,100 TEUs in the fourth quarter, rising 4.0 percent from about 149,100 TEUs recorded in the same quarter in 2011.

Quarterly throughput via the Tecon Salvador terminal was approximately 71,500 TEUs, jumping 16.5 percent from about 61,400 TEUs in the same period the year before.

The terminals handled a total of 908,300 TEUs in 2012, up 0.8 percent from 901,300 TEUs in 2011.
