CSX named James R. Hertwig president of CSX Intermodal, replacing Val T. Noel who recently joined Pacer International as president of Pacer Cartage, the logistics company''s local trucking business unit.

Consolidators International, a Los Angeles-based wholesaler of air freight service, promoted Peter Lamy to president. An 11-year veteran of the company, Lamy had directed operations.

FKI Logistex announced the promotions of Stephen Causey to vice president of finance and Stephen Legg to vice president of business development for the company''s North American operations. Causey is a seven-year veteran of the company working most recently as director of finance for the Alvey, White and Cleco brands. Legg most recently was president of the company''s Real Time Solutions unit. Before that he held positions with the company''s White, Alvey, and Automation Division units.

Landstar System promoted Jim Handoush to president of Landstar Logistics. Handoush, who joined Landstar Logistics in 1996, most recently was executive vice president of finance and administration. He replaces James R. Hertwig.

VHI Transport picked Bruce Knoll to manage its newly expanded Agents Division. Noll previously held executive positions in transportation as an assistant vice president for SunTrust Bank, responsible for pick up and delivery throughout the vast network of branches. Before that he worked in ground and air transportation management with UPS.

Celadon Group named three vice presidents in its Celadon Trucking Services division. Jim Hogue, a 34-year industry veteran who joined Celadon last year, is vice president of sales in CTS. He had been director of Eastern sales at Contract Freighters. Bart Middleton became vice president and corporate controller. With the company since 1995, Middleton had been controller. Wayne Deno, formerly director of finance, was promoted to vice president and treasurer.

SEKO Worldwide, a global freight forwarder and logistics provider, appointed Marve E. Washburn vice president of international business development. Washburn, a 14-year sales industry veteran in the forwarding industry, previously worked for Circle International, later Eagle Global Logistics, as director of global sales.

The American Highway Users Alliance elected the alliance''s top lobbyist Gregory M. Cohen to be its new president and CEO. Cohen served as the Alliance''s senior vice president for policy and government affairs for the past two years. Before joining AHUA, Cohen was a staffer for the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.

British Airways World Cargo appointed Steve Smith area manager for Africa, replacing David Shepherd, who became area manager for Europe. Smith has worked in revenue management and operations at BA, most recently as manager for delivery planning.

The Oregon Department of Transportation named Kelly Taylor administrator of its rail division. She will manage day-to-day rail safety operations and long-term strategic planning for Oregon''s rail system. Taylor joined ODOT in 1978 in its Driver and Motor Vehicle Services Division. In 1996 she moved to the ODOT director''s office and assumed legislative responsibility for Motor Carrier Transportation Division, where she represented ODOT before the state legislature.

Runzheimer International hired Janet Jones as a business development consultant in its Global Mobility Services business unit. Jones will be responsible for its Southwestern territory. Previously, she was director of marketing for Merritt, Hawkins & Associates, and before that was territory manager for Allergan Pharmaceuticals.
