Allen Lund, a third-party transportation broker and logistics provider, promoted Demetrios Bournias, CTB, to assistant manager at its Chicago office. Demetrios graduated with a B.S. in finance from the University of Illinois at Chicago.

American Commercial Barge Line appointed Paul Book as director of barge maintenance. Book most recently was director of audit and compliance. Mark Dougherty became director of vendor vetting. Dougherty had been a quality analyst. David Miller was appointed director of marketing service. Miller was the director of marketing support. Mario Munoz was named director of fleets. Munoz had been director of fleet operations. Gary Ruff became Gulf tow planner. Ruff was director of fleet logistics. Michael O''Neil was appointed West Canal/Lower Mississippi system planner. O''Neil had been Gulf tow planner. Kenneth B. Davidson was named manager of vendor vetting. Davidson previously was the manager of Gulf area safety & training.

Tibbett & Britten, the British logistics provider, named Michael J. Gardner president of the Americas and appointed him to the group''s board of directors. Gardner previously worked for APL Logistics and its predecessor GATX Logistics, most recently as global chief operating officer. Before that he worked at Rath Manufacturing, NYNEX Logistics Services and Exel.

RedPrairie, the supply chain software provider, named R. Michael Mayoras customer implementation and services leader for the Americas. The former president of DigiTerra, Mayoras will run RedPrairie''s consulting, services, support and training programs.

Saia Motor Freight named three former Clark Bros. employees to management positions in the new Saia regions created as the result of Saia''s recent acquisition of the Clark Bros. organization. Marty Pudlowski was named regional operations and sales manager of its Kansas City region. Pudlowski formerly was director of operations for Clark Bros. in Omaha. Tony Joyce, a 20-year sales management veteran, became regional sales manager Chicago. Doug Hawley was promoted to regional sales manager for the Kansas City region. In addition, Clark appointed Brent Stacy as regional safety manager, Ron Ryan as human resources manager, and Glenn Long as regional maintenance manager.

Panalpina, the Switzerland-based logistics giant, hired Randy Peoples vice president for global accounts in the North American division. Peoples had been director of global accounts at Eagle Global Logistics. He also held senior sales positions at Emery Worldwide and Circle International and operations positions at Emery and CF Airfreight.

Staff Management, a provider of vendor-on-premise staffing and management solutions, appointed Mary Ryan Bottger director of business solutions. Bottger most recently was a manager in the HR department of Georgia-Pacific.

The Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority appointed Montford (Monty) Burgess, Jr. new senior vice president and chief operating officer, effective July 1. Burgess, a 30-year aviation industry veteran, had been vice president of operations and maintenance. He will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of Nashville International and John C. Tune airports.

CSX promoted Dean M. Piacente to vice president for chemicals and fertilizer for CSX Transportation. Piacente most recent served as president and managing director of Transflo, a subsidiary of CSX. Glen Soliah became president of Transflo. Soliah was director of operations and chief operating officer for the company.

Americas Systems, a transport management information technology provider, appointed Naresh Hingorani general manager for products for transportation management solutions. Hingorani has 10 years'' experience in logistics and helped launch the ocean transportation management company NeoModal. Before that he was director of consulting at CSX and earlier worked at Sea-Land.

Ken Aldridge, chief executive officer of Aldridge Electric, was appointed chairman of the American Road & Transportation Builders Association''s Railroads and Public Transportation Advisory Council. Aldridge is also a member of the ARTBA board.

Software company RedPrairie appointed Jack Robinson chief financial officer and financial leader. Robinson previously worked for IBM, where he was vice president of business development finance for the global sales and distribution group.

Jean-Cyril Spinetta, chairman and chief executive officer of Air France, was elected chairman of the International Air Transportation Association''s board of governors for 2004-2005.

VHI Transport, formerly known as Virginia Hiway, named Michael Lynch logistics manager. Lynch has worked for VHI since 2000, most recently as an account executive.

URS named Dave Alford manager of the company''s Pacific Northwest region. Alford, a 20-year managerial veteran and a senior vice president with the company, will be responsible for all operations in the Pacific Northwest, which includes Anchorage, Fairbanks and Juneau, Alaska; Vancouver; Seattle, Spokane, and Tacoma, Wash.; and Portland and Bend, Ore.

Steven Worldwide Van Lines announced that John Hopkins has joined as a residential and commercial relocation sales representative in Michigan. He brings 15-years experience in the relocation industry, most recently with Corrigan Moving Systems.
