Fleet Source announced the appointment of Michael Chimenti as president. Chimenti most recently served as president of Star Freight in Charlotte, N.C.

Anthony "Tony" Becker, vice chairman and co-founder of Port Jersey Logistics, Jersey City, N.J., was named chairman of the board of IWLA - The Association for Logistics Outsourcing. Bob R. Auray, Jr., of Kuehne & Nagel Logistics was elected vice chairman and Bob Dineen, president of Dominion Warehousing & Distribution Services, was elected secretary-treasurer.

New England Motor Freight hired Glenn Law as an account executive at the regional LTL trucker''s Buffalo, N.Y., terminal. Law has worked for 18 years in sales and operations at USFRedstar in Buffalo.

IWLA, The Association of Logistics Outsourcing, named Nathan Noy director of government and legal affairs. Noy organized the publication of two recent books by logistics expert Ken Ackerman while completing his MBA at Ohio State. He has also written a book, "Stranded: A Guide to Life Without Major League Baseball," on baseball labor strife. The association also named Linda Wood director of education services. Wood has designed and managed training for professionals at Motorola University and Accenture.

Cargo 2000 elected Mick Fountain, chief executive of global freight management at Exel, as chairman for a two-year term. Wolfgang Schmitz, senior vice president of business excellence and development at Lufthansa Cargo, was elected as vice chairman. In addition, other new members elected to Cargo 2000''s board are: Tony Charaf, Delta Air Logistics; Kenny Tang, Cathay Pacific Cargo; Thomas Mack, Schenker; Roland Bischoff, Kuehne & Nagel; and Genta Ohyama, Yusen Sea & Air Services.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey appointed Michael O''Connor to the new position of chief of public safety and emergency management. O''Connor is a highly decorated transit police commander and 30-year law enforcement veteran. Samuel J. Plumeri, Jr., was named director of public safety/superintendent of police. Plumeri most recently served as deputy superintendent of intelligence and training for the Port Authority Police Department. He has over 20 years of experience in law enforcement.

Volga-Dnepr Group appointed Tony Bauckham to the position of sales and marketing director. Bauckham most recently worked at Evergreen International Airlines as executive vice president and before that as vice president of sales and marketing for Europe, Africa and the Middle East. He has also worked for World Aviation Group, Southern AirTransport, ANA Cargo Services and Air Express International.

GeoLogistics Corp. a third-party logistics provider, appointed Charles Kirk chief information officer. Kirk, a 25-year IT and logistics veteran, most recently served as the head of IT at C&S Wholesale Grocers, a New England grocery wholesaler. Before that he worked at General Motors and FedEx.

Richard J. Morris, assistant chairman of Pilot Air Freight, was elected to the Airforwarders Association''s board of directors. In addition to his position on the board, Morris will serve as the president of the association for the rest of 2004.

GAC Logistics promoted Joanne Wilkens to the new Bangkok-based post of route development manager to boost its logistics business between United Kingdom and the Asia Pacific-Indian subcontinent. Wilkins joined the Dubai-based forwarder in 2002 after working for more than a decade in the freight industry in Europe.

Hartfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport hired Peter D. Ferguson as director of maintenance. Ferguson, an industry veteran of facilities and operational management, most recently served as vice president of operations for Oxford Airport Technical Services. Chris A. Davis was promoted to assistant director of maintenance. Davis most recently served as senior project engineer in the Department of Aviation''s Facilities Division.
