TRADE GROUP SETS UP QUOTA SERVICE PROGRAM

The American Association of Exporters and Importers and Logic International this week announced a new joint quota management service for textile and apparel importers, brokers, attorneys and other service industries.

The new service includes a textile and apparel quota hot line and Textile and Apparel Quota Management Alert, and a weekly flash report with the most current textile and apparel information. The Quota Management Alert will show how much quota is available for textile and apparel products from all countries and will include an early warning report of impending embargoes.

It also will have notices of impending government actions and summaries of all actions on bilateral agreements, quotas and visa arrangements from the Federal Register, Customs computerized messages and bulletins and announcements from the Commerce Department's Committee for the Implementation of Textile Agreements.

An optional daily fax service, Daily Early Warning Embargo Alert, gives textile and apparel categories with quota 85 percent or more filled.

Subscribers may receive information through on-line channels of communication, facsimile, overnight mail or first-class postage to be received each Monday with information through the previous Friday, the association said.

The new service represents the beginning of the exporters and importers association's recent developments in quota service programs to include steel, sugar, milk products and others items, said Eugene Milosh, president of the New York-based association.

Such programs allow the import community to better cope with an increasingly complex system of import restrictions, he said.
