Oakland hires maritime director

The Port of Oakland has named Wilson Lacy as maritime director.

Lacy, who previously worked for APL, Hapag-Lloyd and Sea-Land, was hired by the port earlier this year and has been in charge of planning development of terminals.

Lacy spent more than three decades at various shipping lines and terminal operators. His longest stint was from 1987-93, when he worked as vice president and general manager for H&M International Transportation, a New Jersey-based firm that deals with the movement and storage of containers.

Lacy also spent nine years at APL, and five years at Marine Terminal Corp.

The maritime director position became vacant after the commission selected former director Jerry Bridges as its executive director.
