NC, CHINESE PORTS SIGN AGREEMENT

The Port of Wilmington, N.C., has signed a cooperation agreement with the Port of Dandong in China's Liaoning Province.

The agreement, focusing mainly on information exchanges between the two ports, was signed Monday in Wilmington by Ron S. DeVoe, the port's manager, and Zhang Zixi, Dandong's deputy mayor, following a two-week trade mission to North Carolina by the Chinese.Mr. Zhang noted that Dandong is in the midst of development programs similar to the expansion under way at Wilmington.

The Chinese port city is considering opening a foreign trade office in North Carolina within the next year as a result of the trade mission, according to the port authority.
