LYKES GETS NOD ON SUBSIDY BID

The Maritime Administration has approved Lykes Bros. Steamship Co.'s application to carry, with full operating subsidy, 9,900 pounds of printing ink from Miami to Cartagena, Colombia, on its U.S. Atlantic/West Coast to South America service.

Lykes said the 14,700-deadweight-ton Stella Lykes was scheduled to make the voyage earlier this month.Lykes' subsidy contract stipulates a reduction in subsidy for cargo loaded at U.S. Atlantic ports south of Jacksonville and discharged at ports on the north coast of Colombia, Venezuela and the Atlantic coast of Panama.
