Freighter detained on bomb threat: Report

The Coast Guard is searching a Turkish freighter near Philadelphia on suspicion that an explosive device may be onboard.

Just after 10 a.m. Thursday officials say that the Coast Guard was onboard the Philadelphia-bound ship helping to guide it to port when they overheard someone talking about the possibility of a bomb on the ship, television station KYW reported on its Web site. Authorities then made the decision to tow the steel-carrying ship to Big Stone Anchorage in Delaware Bay.

The Coast Guard placed a 500-yard security zone around the ship and warned all boats to stay away from the vessel while the FBI conducted an investigation. Bomb sniffing dogs have been called in and a full search of the ship is underway.
