The bid calls for the development of local cable network including cable duct system, junction cable network (OFC transmission system) and supporting facilities (equipment and construction). Project is financed by a loan from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (the World Bank) toward the cost of development of telecommunication facilities in Indonesia over a four-year period (1992-1996) through the Fourth Telecommunication Project to be implemented by Pt. Telekomunikasi Indonesia (Telkom). Project is aimed to increase the existing Telkom's capacity by approximately 600,000 new subscriber lines. Major component of the project is development of local cable networks including cable duct system, junction cable networks (OFC transmission system) and supporting facilities, within Indonesia and divided into three packages of each approximately 130,000 pairs of primary cable and estimated cost for each package is US$58,000,000.

Interested eligible firms or joint ventures from World Bank member countries who have previous experience with the similar works are invited to prequalify for this project. Joint ventures between foreign and domestic firms are encouraged. Bidding expected to be held on June 3, 1992, and only prequalified firms/joint ventures will be invited for bidding. Prequalification documents can be obtained by request, in writing, during office hours on Feb. 10, 1992, upon submission of payment receipt of non-refundable fee of US$50 to Telekom's accounts.
