Each site will receive a micro/mini computer system comprising: a processor based on the Motorola MC68020/386 chip with at least a 220 mb fixed disk and a

0,25-inch tape streamer; a capability for attaching up to 27 RS232 devices; up to 10 color-screen VDU's and keyboards; alaser printer and a matrix printer (an acoustic hood will also be supplied if the noise level exceeds 54 decibels); a unix version 2 operating system capable of driving Informix 4GL and Informix SQL software (which is the chosen application driver) on 16 terminals concurrently, with response times within three seconds for 96 percent of all transactions. The system must be able to read and write 0,25- inch cassette tapes, to be ported to or from an ICL Clan 4 system.

Suppliers must be capable of supplying all the hardware, software and services (including training) necessary to meet the requirements and are expected to quote for complete systems and to take prime responsibility for system maintenance. Delivery will be to the Department of Health and Social Security regional finance offices located at seven sites, within the United Kingdom, as follows: Birmingham; Cardiff, Edinburgh; Leeds; Liverpool; Sutton; Wembley. Time limit for delivery: delivery of the complete system by Sept. 16, 1988. No special legal form required but each supplier will be required to be jointly and severally liable under the contract. Information required: a supplier's request to participate must include: evidence of a proven track record of success in installing office systems hardware, software and support services; evidence of reference sites where they have already implemented such systems successfully; a copy of their latest annual report and accounts and confirmation that they are a qualified supplier in their own country.
