CHEVRON CHRISTENS 41ST TANKER

Chevron Corp. said it christened its 41st tanker Friday in a ceremony at the Ishikawajima-Harima Heavy Industries Co. shipyard in Kure, Japan.

The John Young, named for a director of Chevron Corp., will trade primarily between Indonesia and the U.S. West Coast. The 149,995-deadweight-ton vessel will carry approximately 1.16 million barrels of crude oil on each voyage to California.

It is the first of four identical tankers to be built for Chevron by IHI and its Brazilian affiliate, Ishibras, over the next two years. These new vessels will replace older tankers of approximately comparable capacities that have been or will be retired from the Chevron fleet.
