ANL adds fifth USA loop

ANL (Australia National Line) announced the launch of its fifth liner service today to the U.S. since it commenced operations to North America in June of 2003.

Known as AUS 2, the service will be a fixed-day, weekly all-water transit between the main ports in China and the U.S. West Coast on CMA CGM's Shanghai Express (SHEX). The service will be introduced as part of a large scale restructure and re-tonnaging exercise on the existing Far East-WCUSA network, ANL said.

The new service rotation: Fuqing, Ningbo, Shanghai, Los Angeles, Oakland, Fuqing. Eastbound service begins June 1 with the sailing of the Independence, Voyage SE001E from Fuqing and westbound, June 17, with the sailing of the Independence, voyage SE002W from Los Angeles.

The existing AUS service will be upgraded from 4000-TEU to 8200-TEU vessels in the third quarter, on a revised rotation, and the new loop will offer direct calls in Shanghai, Fuqing and Ningbo to Los Angeles and Oakland.

Under the revised loops, ANL will operate three separate services from the Far East to U.S. West Coast sector, as well as maintaining the two existing services to the U.S. East Coast from China and the Mediterranean.

In a statement, ANL Chief Executive, John Lines, said, It is our intention to continue to build upon our reputation and further expand our range of services into North America over the next 12 months."
