J&H MARSH REVAMPS, SPLITS CHAIRMAN'S OFFICE IN THREE

Insurance broker J&H Marsh & McLennan said Wednesday it has reorganized its global and reinsurance operations while dividing its office of chairman among the firm's three vice chairmen.

However, A.J.C. Smith said he is keeping the title of chairman. He is also chairman of the parent Marsh & McLennan Cos.He said the changes will streamline service to clients around the world while improving the potential for job opportunities for J&H Marsh employees.

J&H Marsh has created three divisions: global, the Americas and Guy Carpenter & Co., its reinsurance brokerage unit.

John T. Sinnott becomes J&H Marsh's chief executive. Norman Barham will have corporate responsibilities, including improving educational activities for employees.

He will also be president of the new J&H Marsh & McLennan (Global) division. Timothy J. Mahoney Sr. was named head of global client development. The third member of the chairman's office is Richard H. Blum. He will be responsible for the company's relationships with the insurance industry and the development of relationships with the capital markets. He will also have oversight of client relationships around the world.

Besides the global division, J&H Marsh has formed J&H Marsh & McLennan (Americas) to handle its Western Hemisphere business. Heading it as president will be Robert J. Newhouse III. Brandon W. Sweitzer was named president of Guy Carpenter.
