JAPAN AIRLINES PLANS TO SUSPEND SOME FLIGHTS, INAUGURATE OTHERS

Japan Airlines plans to suspend unprofitable flights between Tokyo and Washington from Dec. 3 and those connecting Tokyo and Munich from Nov. 6, JAL officials said.

JAL has two flights a week between Tokyo and Washington and a weekly flight between Tokyo and Munich.The company also is considering reducing the number of flights between

Fukuoka and Pusan in South Korea from three to two a week.

However, JAL plans to increase flights on 12 routes, such as Sapporo- Honolulu, Osaka-London and Hiroshima-Seoul, the officials said.

The airline also will inaugurate Fukuoka-Bangkok and Fukuoka-Auckland flights.

JAL will apply in late September for Transport Ministry approval of its new flight plans for the latter half of the business year, October through March, the officials said.
