Updated Railyards Opened at Port of Amsterdam

The Port of Amsterdam and the Netherlands’ ProRail have modernized two freight railyards, in compliance with European requirements.

Aziehavenweg now accommodates electric freight trains, which are quieter and cleaner than diesel; and Westhavenweg has been equipped for long freight trains of up to 750 meters (about 2,460 feet), which provide efficiency benefits. The soil under Westhavenweg railyard was also cleaned as part of the project.
