Descartes Acquires Dutch Transportation Software Provider

Descartes Systems Group acquired Infodis, a Netherlands-based provider of transportation-management software, in an all-cash transaction for $3.7 million.

Infodis provides a network-based transportation-management solution tailored to specific European logistics requirements.

It manages both inbound and outbound purchased transportation for more than 5 million shipments per year to and from Europe, with particular strength in shipments from Europe to the Asia-Pacific region.

Descartes said the acquisition will give it European domain expertise and functionality and also enable its existing transportation-management suite to serve European and Asia- Pacific carriers and shippers.

Through the acquisition, more than 200 carriers in Europe and Asia, and some high-tech companies, will be connected to Descartes’ Logistics Technology Platform, where more than 35,000 trading partners connect and collaborate to handle logistics operations.

Infodis, which is headquartered in Woerden, the Netherlands, provides international transportation-management solutions to such companies as Philips, Sony, and Canon.
