Hub Group's Income Rose 17 Percent in 2012

Asset-light freight transportation management company Hub Group reported income in the fourth quarter of 2012 was $18.8 million, rising 11 percent compared with the fourth quarter of 2011.

Total quarterly revenue increased 6 percent year-over-year to $614 million.

Intermodal revenue in the fourth quarter was $451 million, up 8 percent from the same quarter in 2011, driven primarily by a 7 percent increase in volume. Truck brokerage revenue was $87 million, rising 7 percent from 2011’s fourth quarter, and revenue from Unyson Logistics, a division of Hub Group, was $76 million, a decrease of 1 percent.

Quarterly revenue for the Mode segment, which was acquired by Hub Group in 2011, was $199 million, rising 2 percent from the fourth quarter of 2011.

For the full year of 2012, profit was $68 million, up 17 percent year-over-year, and revenue was $3.1 billion, increasing 14 percent.
