Forwarder Pilot Expands to Amsterdam

Pilot Freight Services will open an office in Amsterdam as the U.S. freight forwarder looks to build on strong growth in the international arena with its first full office overseas.

The expansion follows a record financial year for the privately-held Lima, Pa.-based forwarder, which reported $423.5 million in revenue last year, a 31 percent improvement over the year before that was helped by a 60 percent gain in international business.

Pilot is largely domestic in its services and has used forwarder network alliances and partner-agents for international business.

CEO Richard Phillips said in a statement said in a statement that the Amsterdam site would give Pilot quick access to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport and the Port of Rotterdam, and connections across Europe and Asia.

The company will move two longtime Pilot employees, Gilles Auzanneau and Alexandra Ryan, to manage the site.
