Construction products manufacturer Dayton Superior will place a manufacturing and distribution center in central Georgia to serve as its main point to ship goods to the southeast U.S.
The site in Braselton, Ga., about 60 miles northeast of Atlanta will give Dayton Superior the ability to reach a large share of its customers within a day by surface transport, according to Eric Zimmerman, president and CEO of the Dayton, Ohio-based company.
"We wanted a stronger manufacturing and distribution presence in the southeast, and our investment in the new Braselton facility … was central to that strategy,” Zimmerman told the Gainesville, Ga., Times newspaper.
Dayton Superior will invest about $15 million in the 192,000-square-foot facility, which will employ about 140 people when it is completed next spring.
The company is seeking to expand after emerging from Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection last October with greatly reduced debt. A specialist in the non-residential concrete construction market, Dayton Superior has been hurt by the downturn in the industrial construction market.
