INDONESIA SEEKS JAPAN'S DEBT AID

President Suharto told visiting Japanese lawmakers Monday that Indonesia needs international cooperation to cope with its economic difficulties caused by the soaring yen and declining oil prices, the legislators said.

The legislators told reporters after their meeting with Mr. Suharto that they did not know what the Japanese government would do to help Indonesia and other Asian countries overcome their debt problems.We know the Indonesian difficulties but we do not know yet the concrete policy of the Japanese government on this, delegation leader Takao Fujinami said.

Indonesia currently owes Japan $13.1 billion.
