ENSERCH TO BUILD COGENERATION PLANT

Enserch Corp. said it will build a 255-megawatt cogeneration plant adjoining a U.S. Gypsum Co. factory near Sweetwater, Texas.

Electricity from the natural gas-fired plant will be sold to Texas Utilities Electric Co., Dallas.Enserch will be the general partner for a group of owners including Prudential Capital Corp. and the Montana Power Co.

Total project cost is expected to be about $394 million. Debt financing will be provided by 23 institutions and led by an affiliate of Prudential Capital Corp.

The plant will be built by Enserch's Ebasco Constructors Inc., subsidiary.
