US Pork, Beef Exports Jumped in October

U.S. pork exports in October increased 9 percent to a record 218,132 metric tons (about 240,449 tons) valued at $607 million, according to statistics released by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and compiled by the U.S. Meat Export Federation.

October’s pork exports broke the previous record of 217,080 metric tons set in November 2011 and exceeded $600 million for the first time, breaking the previous high of $597.85 million, also set in November 2011, by 1.5 percent.

Beef exports also posted strong results in October, with export value increasing 10 percent year-over-year to $496 million, or 101,447 metric tons.

From January to October, domestic pork exports rose 3 percent in volume and 6 percent in value, and beef exports increased 11 percent in volume and decreased 2 percent in value.
