Mobile entertainment equipment maker Tapwave outsourced logistics of a new product line to Ingram Micro Logistics, a North American division of Ingram Micro, a $23 billion technology products distributor.

To win the business the 3PL teamed with ChannelWave, which provides online store and ordering capabilities.

Ingram and ChannelWave will manage e-commerce sales and logistics for Tapwave''s Zodiac mobile entertainment console that began shipping in October 2003. The outsourcing contract covers selling product direct to end customers online and involves a complete storefront, catalog, ordering capability, fulfillment and reverse logistics service.

Tapwave aims to lower costs and simplify the order management process while increasing supply-chain efficiencies. The outsourcing arrangement also should improve customer service since it gives customers instant connectivity, according to the manufacturer.
