CONVENES IN DALLASThe National Association of Rail Shippers is holding its annual meeting at the Adolphus Hotel here this week.

The conference is being held in conjunction with the Southwest Association of Rail Shippers.

Attendees at NARS, comprised of the nation's premier users of rail service, will be treated to a third-party panel discussion on "Intermodal Transportation in the '90s" this morning.

This afternoon, short-line and Class 1 railroad executives will elaborate on the "Challenges and Future Directions of the Rail Industry."

Wednesday's session features a panel discussion of "Logistics Strategies in the '90s," with traffic and distribution managers of some of the largest rail shippers participating.

Later that afternoon, Class 1 railroad executives will discuss the possibility of further productivity gains among railroads.

WOMEN'S TRAFFIC CLUB

TO AWARD SCHOLARSHIP

NEW YORK - The Women's Traffic Club of New York is preparing to award its first scholarship.

The $1,000 award will be given to a New York, New Jersey or Connecticut student majoring in a traffic or transportation management degree program at an accredited institution of higher learning.

Students majoring in a related degree program, such as marketing or logistics, also are eligible.

The winner will be announced at the traffic club's regular meeting at the Whitehall Club in New York on May 15.
