Richard Lawrence, who covered international trade for The Journal of Commerce in Washington for more than 30 years, died Monday after a prolonged illness. He was 82.
Lawrence’s widow Vera said that he died of pneumonia at a Washington-area nursing home but had been in declining health since he fell in December 2009.
Lawrence is survived by his wife and by a sister in Massachusetts. Mrs. Lawrence said his remains will be cremated, and a memorial service will be held sometime in April or May.
