COMEX OFFERS NEW COURSES ON FUTURES

The Commodity Exchange Inc. is continuing a strategy of offering educational programs about futures trading for the professional and novice trader.

Like past programs that worked well for the exchange, the new series of classes beginning April 18 will focus on accounting, investing and hedging in Comex-traded futures markets, said Tom Walker, Comex's newly appointed vice president for marketing. The three new programs - a one-day class taught by Coopers and Lybrand that focuses on accounting procedures and systems for hedgers, and two three- day workshops covering the basics of futures markets and the use of metals futures and options for hedging purposes - are open to exchange members and the general public.

The courses will be taught by Comex staff members in conjunction with independent consultants.

Mr. Walker said Comex believes education is the key to expanding participation in the futures market.

Information on dates and places for the classes are available from Comex, 4 World Trade Center, New York.
