COCOBOD PLANS TO REORGANIZE

After months of indecision, the Ghana Cocoa Board, the sole operator of the Ghana cocoa industry, is restructuring by the end of July, with drastic job reductions, in preparation for the Oct. 1 privatization of the industry.

Cocobod's core policy and regulatory functions will be performed by the Policy Planning, Monitoring and Research department, according to a Cocobod source.PPMR will determine all operational prices and fees in the industry and be responsible for projections of f.o.b. prices, exchange rates and crop sizes. PPMR also will monitor and evaluate the operations of the industry and be responsible for collecting and analyzing data for decision-making.
