BONN CONFIRMS FORECAST FOR WEST GERMAN GDP

The economics ministry confirmed a newspaper report that Bonn expected west German gross domestic product to rise 0.5 percent to 1 percent next year.

A ministry spokesman also said the government forecast real GDP growth of between 1 percent and 1.5 percent for the entire Germany, with east German GDP up between 7 percent to 8 percent. The Handelsblatt newspaper said the government was less optimistic about west German capital investment and exports than Germany's leading economic research institutes, which predict 1 percent growth for west Germany next year. It expected zero growth for west German capital investment in 1994, the paper said.
