A looming change in how&nbsp;Maersk&nbsp;assesses demurrage and detention fees on US import and export shipments&nbsp;has not yet been matched by other container lines.&nbsp; Maersk <a>earlier this month announced</a> that, beginning April 1, it will stop assessing excess free time fees when customers are not able to pick up or return containers due to those locations being closed. Slow-steaming has come to the fore of late as ocean carriers seek help in absorbing overcapacity, but analyst Lars Jensen says the common refrain that slower speeds also help to improve schedule reliability doesn’t hold water.
