Northwest shifts tracking to Web portal

NWA Cargo, the cargo subsidiary of Northwest Airlines, has shifted all online tracking and tracing of shipments it handles to the Cargo Portal Services Web site.

Northwest officials said freight forwarders using CPS ( to track their shipments with the carrier will be able to access a wider range of information, including flight departures and arrivals; proof of delivery; shipment status at U.S. Customs, and customer container information.

A link on the Northwest Web site will connect customers directly to the CPS tracking page.

CPS is an online portal for booking and tracking air cargo created by Unisys Corp. in conjunction with Northwest, United Airlines and Air Canada. The system went live in January. Austrian Airlines recently joined the service, and Unisys officials expect to announce shortly the addition of another major carrier to the portal.

Tracking and tracing of shipments with other CPS carriers is done on their own Web sites.
