DHL Completes Move to Leipzig

DHL Completes Move to Leipzig

The German Aviation Authority granted an operating license to DHL Express for its newly formed Leipzig-based cargo airline, European Air Transport.

Receipt of the operating license and airline operator certificate completes the move of DHL's European aviation operations from Brussels to Leipzig, which started in November 2007. DHL Express registered 11 757 freighter aircraft with its newly formed airline.

Leipzig has served as principal operating base for most of DHL's European aircraft fleet since early 2008. More than 50 aircraft fly DHL's intra-Europe and intercontinental express air routes from Leipzig, covering approximately 100 destinations.

DHL Express European Management and trade unions BBTK, LBC and ACLVB have signed a collective labor agreement outlining details of a support package for employees affected by the move of DHL's European headquarters from Brussels to Bonn, Leipzig and Prague.
