BA to launch cargo service between Houston, Mideast

British Airways will inaugurate direct cargo service between Houston and the Middle East starting Monday, Houston Airport System announced on Thursday.

BA will operate a Boeing 747-400 freighter for the new weekly service to Dammam, Saudi Arabia and Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

The aircraft will depart every Monday morning from Bush Intercontinental Airport and will stop briefly at London Stansted Airport before arriving in the Middle East. The flight will continue from the Middle East to Mumbai and Delhi, India. It will return to the U.S. via Europe.

"We look forward to this new service and the growth of global air cargo service for Houston shippers," said Luis Perez, deputy director of Houston Airport System.
