AGENCY REPORT SCORES LYPHOMED QUALITY CONTROL

The Food and Drug Administration has released a new report sharply criticizing quality control procedures at LyphoMed Inc., which makes drugs to fight symptoms of AIDS and other diseases.

An FDA official said Monday a reinspection of LyphoMed's main manufacturing plant found the same sort of problems that led the agency to take disciplinary action against the suburban Chicago company last fall.LyphoMed said it intends to respond to the latest inspection report later this week.

We are committed to ensuring that our quality meets and exceeds the FDA standards, said John N. Kapoor, LyphoMed's chairman and chief executive officer.
