The new program allows for the creation of process automation solutions by partnering leading technology vendors with ZES to pre-integrate their technology into the ZES terminal operating system (TOS). arl-shipping.com, one of the alliance's first partners, is working with ZES to integrate its Rubber-Tyred Gantry (RTG) optimization tools into the ZES SPARCS product, the leading container management software solution for real-time graphical planning and control of container terminals. This combined solution optimizes the deployment of RTGs and can calculate the volume of RTGs required for next shifts based on yard impact time of planned quay crane operations in container terminals. Currently this system is deployed at one of the world's largest terminals, which has seen a 20 percent reduction in RTG deployment, an increase in RTG productivity jump 16 percent and reduced RTG driving distance by 17 percent.
