Canada Trade and Shipping Outlook
The pandemic-driven surge of Asian imports and strengthening trans-Atlantic trade, thanks to a new Canada-EU trade deal, is testing Canadian containerized supply chains. The need for additional marine terminal capacity, alternative routings, better alignment of surface transportation with ocean side operations, and increasing reliance on air cargo all speak to a changing landscape for cargo owners and their transportation service partners. With e-commerce pressure rising amid seemingly relentless consumer demand, retailers and other importers are scrambling to get their cargo faster, though congestion and the lingering impacts of COVID-19 continue to present major challenges. On the outbound side, containerized exporters are struggling to find empty containers and are navigating virtual whack-a-mole when it comes to changing tariffs. Bringing together some of the Canadian shipping industry’s most respected leaders, this webcast will provide an in-depth look at the state of the Canadian supply chain and analyze the rest of 2021 and beyond.
Among the topics of focus will be:
• A macroeconomic outlook of Canadian containerized trade
