UPS Makes It Easier For Customers To Utilize LTL Freight Tools

ATLANTA, Jan. 20, 2010 – UPS (NYSE: UPS) has expanded its UPS Developer Kit, formerly known as UPS OnLine® Tools, to include less-than-truckload (LTL) services, package drop-off locator capabilities and street-level address validation.

The UPS Developer Kit is a suite of Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) available to customers who want to integrate UPS technology directly into their business systems, including customer-facing web sites, to improve efficiency and customer service. UPS began offering APIs in 2001, and now customers use these APIs to generate more than 4 billion transactions a year.

“Customers tell us they need access to additional UPS world-class technologies from within their own business systems. UPS’s new APIs provide our customers with more capabilities across a wide array of UPS services,” said Jordan Colletta, vice president of customer technology marketing at UPS. “We’ve also made it easy for developers to find what they’re looking for with the creation of the UPS Developer Resource Center.”

The new APIs enable LTL rating, LTL shipping, LTL and package pick-up scheduling, street-level address validation and the UPS Locator, which allows customers to find the nearest UPS drop-off location. The APIs are ideal for customers with XML and Web Services technical skills.
