Central Freight Lines Driver Honored by Texas Motor Transportation Association

WACO, TX - August 8, 2013 The TMTA is a trade organization dedicated to advocating sound public policies, providing excellence in education, training and promoting a safe, dependable and cost-effective motor transportation system in Texas.

During the 2013 TMTA annual conference held August 6-9th in Lost Pines, Texas, Central Freight Lines Driver, Gary Babbitt was honored as the Texas Driver of The Year. The Association annually presents this prestigious award to the driver who maintains a stellar driving record and possesses the best aspects of the driving profession. Gary will go on to represent drivers in Texas at events throughout the year. Presenting the award were John Esparza, President and CEO, Texas Motor Transportation Association and Newt Cunningham, of the Law Firm of Roberts, Cunningham & Stripling, sponsors of the Driver of the Year award.

"We are proud of Gary and the professionalism he has brought to Central Freight," said Don Orr, President and CEO of Central Freight. "Central is acclaimed for our high safety standards and Gary exemplifies that very premise" Orr continued.

Gary (front row) is joined by his fellow Central Drivers (back row-left to right) Tony Jones-2010 Texas Driver of The Year, Larry Springer-2005 Texas Driver of The Year, and Ron Fuller-2012 Texas Driver of The Year. Since 1963 Central Freight has been the home to 15 Texas Drivers of The Year as presented by the TMTA.

Gary has been an employee with Central for over 37 years and is nearing 5 million miles of non-chargeable accident free driving. He has served as Captain of the America's Road Team as chosen by the American Trucking Associations for the 2011/2012 term.
