Accra/Ghana was the host city in June 2010 for a RAME (Region Africa/Middle East) Field Meeting. The event was organized by the Ghana Institute of Freight Forwarders (GIFF) in co-operation with FIATA’s RAME Chairman Capt. Mansoor from Dubai/UAE. Unfortunately Capt. Mansoor was absent due to unforeseen circumstances, and the Meeting was chaired by the former President and Honorary Member of the Board of FIATA, Mr. Abdelmalek Dahmani (Tunisia).

It was held under the patronage of His Excellency the President of the Republic of Ghana, Mr. John Evans Atta Mills, and attended by the Minister of Trade of the Republic of Ghana, Miss Hannah Tetteh and the Minister of Transport, Mr. Mike Hammah. Special attention was paid on the issue of intra regional networking, referring to the Slogan of this Conference Enhancing Regional Economic Integration trough Freight Forwarding

The conference was attended by some 138 delegates from 11 countries. Also participating were high ranking representatives from the Ghana Government and Commercial Trade. It provided a perfect setting for different country presentations. Topic discussions have attracted a large amount of delegates to interact for issues released.

Mr. Abdelmalek Dahmani declared together with Mr. Carlos Kingsley Ahenkorah (President of GIFF and the organizer of this event) that this RAME Field Meeting (the 1st meeting held in the Sub-Sahara Region) has been a full success. All RAME countries attended have mentioned that they would very much appreciate having more Field Meetings in this very prospective region.
