( BW)(RS-COMPONENTS)(.) RS Continues to Deliver Despite Air Freight Turmoil
RS Components, the world's largest distributor of electronic and industrial supplies, today confirmed that it has continued to meet the vast majority of customer deliveries across Europe during the unprecedented disruption to air travel caused by the Icelandic volcano.

RS said that thanks to unparalleled local stock availability from seven distribution centres throughout Europe, order execution, for shipment the same day continues as usual.

Commented Anne Bruggink, General Manager, Supply Chain at RS Components: The powerful combination of our global organisation and distribution network means that the vast majority of customer demand fulfilled from local warehouses is not affected by this issue. Some special products which are sourced from our regional warehouses have experienced a slight delay.”

“We are in a very strong position, compared to other global distribution businesses thanks to our dynamic supply chain. Over 99.9% of orders received by the distribution centres are being turned around and shipped within a few hours.

Bruggink said that he was pleased that air space was now being reopened and confirmed that RS would maintain high service levels as business returns to normal.
