Port of Los Angeles Environmental Team Earns Top Honors for San Pedro Waterfront Document
SAN PEDRO, Calif. — Nov. 9th, 2009 — The Environmental Management staff of the Port of Los Angeles has received the 2009 Award for Outstanding Environmental Analysis Document by the Association of Environmental Professionals for its work on the San Pedro Waterfront Project Draft Environmental Impact Report/Environmental Impact Statement (DEIR/DEIS).
“The remarkable work done by our environmental team, their consultants and a cross-section of other port staff played an important role in the San Pedro Waterfront Project being approved recently by the Harbor Commission,” said Port of Los Angeles Executive Director Geraldine Knatz, Ph.D. “I’m glad to see our staff recognized for its outstanding and comprehensive work on this project.”
Judges called the Port’s Waterfront DEIR/DEIS “an excellent document,” noting it provided strong evaluation of alternative approaches, integrated sustainable design features and used exhibits well to clearly illustrate the project.
