PORTLAND, ORE. (May 6, 2010) –
The Port of Portland is proud to host the Pacific Northwest’s only shipping and logistics event right here in its hometown. Held on May 11 and 12 at the Benson Hotel, this year’s speaker lineup features timely presentations by industry experts representing a variety of sectors, and registration remains open.

Bill Wyatt, executive director for the Port of Portland, will be on hand to provide opening remarks. “It has been three years since this event started here, and things have changed dramatically since then — both in the world and right here in our own backyard,” said Wyatt. “We’ll all have a lot to talk about as we welcome the conference back to Portland this year.”

In addition to a variety of networking opportunities, the lineup of speakers and presentations include:

• Top shipping executives from Maersk, NYK Line and Wallenius Wilhelmsen on tackling future ocean cargo potential
• BNSF Railway, Norfolk Southern and Union Pacific talking intermodal
• Pasha Group, Ports America and SSA representing major terminal operator perspectives
• Capt. Richard Phillips of the Maersk Alabama who was held hostage by Somali pirates, appearing via a live direct videocast
• Food Shippers, PNW Asia Shippers and Weyerhaeuser weighing in on export issues and forecasts
• Chief Security Officer of Matson on addressing PNW and national security challenges
• Senior Environmental Manager, Port of Seattle on developing a Green Gateway
• Wide array of industry experts answer questions on infrastructure, policy, legislation, technology and retail intermodal

“We’re really pleased to be bringing the Northwest Intermodal Conference back to Portland,” said Peter Hurme, Senior Editor of Cargo Business News. “This is the only event aimed at those who either currently, or are looking to get into, moving cargo through the dynamic Pacific Northwest gateway.”

This third-annual event is presented by Cargo Business News. Registration is available online at www.northwestintermodal.com.
