Local Cement Terminal Recognized for Safety Record

SKOKIE, Ill.‹ On April 27, the Portland Cement Association (PCA) recognized the Titan America LLC cement terminal in Newark, N.J., for its 2009 safety record. The award was presented at PCA’s Spring Meeting in Chicago.

PCA honored three terminals in three categories, designated by the number of hours employees collectively worked in 2009, for achieving superior safety records. The Newark terminal was in the “More than 9,000 employee hours” division.

“Employees at this facility work to continuously improve safety and health conditions and set high standards that promote safety and health protections throughout the year,” said Brian McCarthy, PCA president and CEO.

This year the PCA the Logistic Committee reviewed the performance records of 230 terminals the United States and Canada to select the ones with the best accident performance records.
